We know through our Voluntary Transport Schemes that some people need more than just a lift.
Many of our drivers already help passengers with putting away shopping, making a hot drink, or checking that keys are where they should be.
We’ve launched Transport Plus to address that growing need – a brand new service developed in response to what our volunteers and community have told us.
Transport Plus offers a safe, caring and reliable companion and transport service, with enough time built in for our volunteers to provide the extra support required.
They can help with a range of activities, from shopping and social events to accompanying you to a doctor’s appointment, where sometimes a friendly face and a little extra support can make a big difference.
In this way, we’re strengthening our efforts to reduce social isolation and keep people active.
Who can use the service?
Anyone who is eligible for and registered to use our voluntary transport scheme can request additional support from our Plus service.
How do I book Transport Plus?
Registered passengers can telephone the office on weekday mornings (Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm). We need at least two working days’ notice to book transport so that we have time to allocate a volunteer driver.
If a passenger needs to cancel their journey, they must tell us as soon as possible, as in some cases they may still be charged. Cancellations can be made at any time by telephoning the office. You can leave messages at any time.
What does it cost?
To access Transport Plus, clients need to be members of our voluntary transport scheme and pay an annual registration fee of £30, which helps to cover our administration costs.
For each use of the service, they then pay £6 for up to two hours of support, a £1.50 booking fee, plus the driver’s mileage costs.
Rushcliffe CVS will halve the initial registration fee for those on pension credit.
We're passionate believers in the power of volunteering. It changes lives for the better. That's why we encourage and support people to get involved.
