Visiting an elderly person’s home and bringing a homemade dinner makes a huge difference to their Christmas day.

Members of Ruddington Mums Facebook group helped reach out to elderly members of our community who were going to be home alone on Christmas day.

Doug Lister, Befriending Coordinator for Rushcliffe CVS identified Befriending service users who would benefit from a visit from an Elf delivering a homemade Christmas dinner.

A shout out for volunteers to be a part of this went out, the helpers didn’t let Ruddington Mums group down. 20 people offered to plate up and deliver the dinners. The closest volunteers were assigned as Elves and were happy to help, other Elves sent homemade mince pies to add to each of the dinners.

Gradually throughout Christmas Day Ruddington Mum Laura, received notifications that all the dinners have been delivered and very gratefully received.

Thank you so much to the Elves who took the time and effort to pull this out of the bag and thank you Laura and Doug for organising. Just maybe, the Elves will be back at Easter.
