Join the Movement: Rushcliffe CVS Funding Brings Community to Life in Beeston Harvest Community Haven (HCH)
Rushcliffe Community & Voluntary Service

The Active Notts team was invited to join Harvest Community Haven’s BBQ event for some Warm Welcome filming. Warm Welcomes are free community spaces open to residents, bringing people together and supporting them.
Harvest Community Haven (HCH) is a black-led Church in the Beeston area serving and supporting the community; from global majority communities to those who are currently homeless, to students from overseas and to families with children. They also have a weekly community café including a food bank run by the volunteers.
HCH has received funding from Rushcliffe CVS to incorporate more physical activity into existing and emerging Warm spaces. With the funding they have been able to get equipment like hula hoops for the children to become more active during the sessions. The Active Notts team also connected them to Charm and This Girl Can to develop their workforce of volunteers to be able to deliver dance as part of their community café sessions and linked them with Inspire to deliver seated yoga classes.
For many people in the community, HCH is a supportive and safe space for their families. It’s a space where they can be free and come together with others, especially with increasing social isolation due to the after-effects of COVID-19 and an ageing population. It’s a truly welcoming environment for everyone and the video captures how much HCH means to the community.
