Rushcliffe Befriends: Volunteer to help end loneliness in Rushcliffe

Rushcliffe Befriends is a new and exciting project
managed by Rushcliffe CVS tohi big e blue for online help people aged over
50 who are lonely and find it difficult to get out and about.
People can become isolated for a variety of reasons including retirement, poor health, family and friends too far away to make regular contact, disability, mobility difficulties and lack of transport.

Rushcliffe CVS is looking for Volunteer Befrienders to encourage and support people to get more involved in their local community. They do this by accompanying a person to groups and activities until they feel confident enough to continue independently. This could be a walking group, a craft or exercise class, bowls group or reading group.

Volunteers, who receive training, support and expenses meet interesting people, make friends, develop skills and have fun! They also enjoy the satisfaction of helping people to enhance their quality of life and to maintain their independence.

We want to hear from anyone aged 50 plus, who lives in Rushcliffe and who can offer a few hours a week. We welcome men and women from towns and villages across Rushcliffe, people with diverse experiences and from different backgrounds. We are looking for reliable people who are good listeners, sensitive, patient and non-judgemental.
